I'm 32, married, live in Northern VA. Been a folk fan since '89 when I made an "all-woman" tape for a friend of mine who was leaving for the Peace Corps. Some of you might know me from the Darlist. Dar's how I first heard about Lucy. I saw Lucy open for Dar at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA, oh, a couple of years ago. Since then, I've seen lots more Dar shows, a few Cry(3) shows, and even some solo Lucy gigs. Lately, I've been playing 10 Year Night in my car incessantly. It's definitely as good, well-written, recorded and produced as any Shawn Colvin, etc. cd. In many ways I think the album is much more "accessible" to Dar's music. But I'm not making comparisons. To those lucky few of you going to the Bottomline show, have fun. It should be great. I'd love to see Lucy in NYC. Rachel, I'd take that extra ticket of yours, if I weren't so far from there! Don't want to ramble on, but I do have one question. I've noticed in the 10 Year Night liners that Lucy thanks Gwen Macsai. I was introduced to Gwen a few years ago during my tenure at NPR. I'm just curious, does anyone here know the nature of the connection of Lucy to Gwen? Seeing her name caught me by surprise. Email me privately, if you know. Happy Listening.
