Unfortunately, to date, WFUV hasn't done anything on the net. I will suggest it to them. :-( Harvey (who cannot feel TOO disappointed for Jay who seemingly gets to go to almost as many Lucy shows as Lucy does!<>) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Apr 1999 13:45:16 -0400 From: hltracy@bgnet.bgsu.edu Subject: Re: [lucy-list] NLC I definitely recommend going to see Greg Brown! Man, do I ever love that station. I have to admit that when I tuned into the broadcast I didn't have very high expectations--after all, this was an appearance to support the station's fundraising--and I only expected to hear a bit of talk, and some live music between constant pitches for membership. Very wrong, very wrong. In the interview portion, Lucy came off (as she always does) as relaxed, and personable, and intelligent and in touch with who she. Not that this list doesn't already know it, but this woman is at the top of her game. Then came the music--Lucy was just breathtaking. I swear, no matter how many times I hear her sing, I fall in love with her music again as if I'm hearing it for the first time. (I wish I could have that happen to me in other aspects of my life, but I digress....) Lucy sang Ten Year Night (oh my....), For Once in Your Life (just awesome....Rita said it was her favorite song on the album), and then Townes Van Zandt's No Place to Fall (absolutely breathtaking). When she finished the last song, it was obvious that Rita and Meg Griffin (who was whistling when Lucy finished) and George Evans were just blown away. Rita twice asked Meg "how lucky are we" to hear music like this, Meg said she was "on the floor" it was so great and George said he was just "mesmerized." They were not kidding. I hear these guys react to live performances often and it was very obvious that they were just blown away. Lucy was off the charts--even for Lucy.
