Tomassi" Subject: [lucy-list] Hi and CryCryCry Hello everyone...I just joined the list about a week ago. I had no idea there was a Lucy list until I read about it on Dar List. Something exciting I wanted to share is that Cry Cry Cry is coming to my college (Gettysburg College) on April 15th as an environmental benefit concert. If anyone is in the area I encourage you to come. If you get tickets through me they're only $5! ~Dana ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Apr 1999 08:19:16 -0800 From: "Kelly" Subject: [lucy-list] Re: what is the Ten Year Night Phil asked: Please forgive if this has already been discussed but .....what's the ten year night? Phil, I think the song Ten Year Night is about being just as passionately in love with her first love, ten years later, as she was the first time they met. The "night" indicates the passion and romance still in their relationship. In other words, it feels to her that their first date-first kiss-first everything else is still going on, ten years later. When Lucy says "Later on your kitchen floor/two flights above the grocery store/I felt things I never felt before/And I still do..." I think that summarizes the love and attraction she still feels for her first love even though it's been 10 years. My $ .02...I welcome anyone else's interpretation. - --Kelly NP: Ellis Paul, "Angel in Manhattan" in which there is an amazing line: "She says the question here is, do I believe in you?" PS-Dar is singing the angelic background vocals! Another reason to love the song. - --- kelly.gerace@eudoramail.com *************************** "I know there is strength in the differences between us; I know there is comfort where we overlap." - --Ani Difranco Join 18 million Eudora users by signing up for a free Eudora Web-Mail account at http://www.eudoramail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Apr 1999 12:57:25 -0500 From: votels Subject: [lucy-list] Re: What's a Ten Year Night? Hi everyone: Phil Garner, I could be wrong, but I think the term "Ten Year Night" is a play on the ten years of memories the singer had lumped into that one night on the road with her lover sleeping beside her. Sort of like the old joke, "Yeah, I've been to Albuquerque. I spent a week there one day," only in a much more romantic way. I'm going by the opening of the second verse, "We're ten years older, I know we are, than the night we met in that downtown bar..." Anyone else have other ideas? Thank you, Lucy and Rick, for writing some of the most romantic songs I have ever heard for this recording. Aside from the title cut, "Promise Me" and "Just You, Tonight" give me chills. Oh, that we all could be fortunate enough to find that kind of romance in our lives! Attention Lucy Listers going to May's Chapel April 9: I'll plan to get coffee and hang out at the start of the coffee line during intermission. I'll be wearing a Grateful Dead button. Let's get together there, shall we? It would be nice to associate a real person with the names we see here. Does anyone know if Duke will be playing at that show? You can respond to me privately if you'd like. - -- Jay Votel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Apr 1999 13:15:16 -0500 From: "Tom Neff" Subject: RE: [lucy-list] Re: What's a Ten Year Night? Actually the original title was "Tenure Night" and it referred to Lucy's husband's job as a film professor in New York City. The record company asked them to change it because everyone knows that film students are too broke to buy records. [Happy 4/1 everyone] ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Apr 1999 19:30:12 -0500 From: Phil Garner Subject: [lucy-list] Lucy in Lincolnton, NC Lucy is scheduled to play in Lincolnton, NC (near Charlotte) on Friday night 08/13/99.
