I am definitely planning to be there too. After seeing Lucy at her "in-store" and missing the Wolf Trap concert that night (last Thurs), I am definitely not going to miss this opportunity to see her close by. For anyone who does not live in the Balt area, FYI - Timonium is a bit North of the Baltimore MD beltway. I really like Mays Chapel shows. I saw Dar there several years ago. Since it is general admission seating, we'll be there early to get a close up seat! If you'd like to meet there email me privately. I am listening the her 10 Year Night CD over and over. And I can't wait for the concert! Ruth Whie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Mar 1999 12:17:37 GMT From: cimarron@uky.campusCW.net (Joe H. It's a long drive, but her schedule doesn't bring her anywhere near me. I hate going to these things alone. I've been on the list since March 2nd. I edit the Emmylou Harris on-line newsletter, and was thrilled that Lucy included "Return Of The Grievous Angel" on "Flesh and Bone". Other "folk" artists I enjoy include Steve Earle, Lynn Miles, Gillian Welch, The Rankin Family, Rosanne Cash, Lyle Lovett, Buddy & Julie Miller, most of the traditional country artists (Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Gene Watson) and some of the alt-country singers (Chris Isaak, Dale Watson). I am also a huge fan of bluegrass music. I'm 45 but young for my age. :) I live in Lexington, KY and work for Kentucky Utilities Company. I have been a Lucy fan ever since a friend in NYC sent me "Goodnight" on a sampler tape in 1995, then later, a promo copy of "The Tide".. I've only seen Lucy twice, both times in Newport, KY, about 90 miles north of here. I have never had the opportunity to see Richard or Dar, though I would love to. C3 was in Columbus, Ohio in January (?), but that day there was a huge snow in that area, so I didn't get to go. BTW, any other Lynn Miles fans here? She'll be in Columbus on May 14th. I've only seen her once, and it was an abbrievated set at that. Drop me a line if you want to hook up at the show. Any other Lucy-Listers going? Re: Stage apparel. In January at O'Brien's, Lucy wore the Armani jacket/sweater, whatever it is, with the fuzzy collar that's on the TYN cover. She was noticeably hot, and even made a comment about that when she was talking about her fitting with the Armani people for the fashion show. At the Barns and at the Tin Angel, she wore the black leather jacket. But at other shows over the last three years, prior to the fashion show, Lucy has worn other outfits -- jeans and skirts, mostly, if I recall correctly. I think she was wearing jeans and a leather vest when she was with Cry Cry Cry at the Birchmere in January. To be honest about it, I don't care what she wears as long as she keeps singing! To quote John Gorka, "When she sings, I can't think of anything else." Re: Washington Post review. I could not find any review of TYN at washingtonpost.com Monday. Just for everyone's information, the Post also panned Gorka's latest, "After Yesterday" as being too upbeat. There is no accounting for people's tastes. It is a waste of energy to get mad at a critical review (and I have wasted lots, believe me.) The news last week that TYN was the No. 1 folk selection at Music Boulevard is enough proof that the Post reviewer is all wet. There's been a popular bumper sticker around the Capital Beltway that reads, "I don't believe The Washington Post." 'Nuff said. - -- Jay Votel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Mar 1999 10:39:56 -0500 From: "Tawni T. Hoang" Subject: [lucy-list] Re: Tab/Chords for Ten Year Night? Yes yes, if anyone has transcribed songs from Ten Year Night or know of a web site, please share! This cd hasn't left my stereo for a month. One Good Reason is fast becoming my favorite although Ten Year Night is awesome and Turn the Lights Back On and.. well.. you know how it is. All this talk about that Armani jacket - when I saw her last fall, she said she was getting really hot on the stage and thought for a second she might take off her jacket, but changed her mind, saying she's more conceited than she was uncomfortable. She's so funny. I wonder if she'll feel the same at Falcon Ridge under the sun :) Take care all, Tawni - -- I'm not gonna let you burn your own house down I know you don't like living in it now Catie Curtis _Burn Your Own House Down_ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tawni T. Even if it is just a welcome post. : ) My name is Marina, and I'm a college sophmore at the University of Kansas. (I'm 20) I'm a big big fan of Dar, and like many of you, I got connected to Lucy with C3. After the concert, hearing her sing "10 Year Night" I knew I was going to be a fan. So, I bought the CD, and voila! Here I am. : ) As far an the "opening," I'm also a newfound Lucy fan, and an Aquarian, and a wierdo. Oh, and I have several items that I like to wear um...consistently. So, anyway, that's all from me. I just wanted to do an intro. Hi! I'll be talking to y'all! When I read this post by Bill I seriously felt welcomed to the list. Lucy definitely hooked me quick! Wow. This list seems so newcomer friendly! Another list I'm on is rather uh... how can I put this in a semi-nice way? flame happy to those who don't know the rules of the list made by those who've been on the list for a long time? well, more so than that. I dunno. Ignore me, I'm babbling again. Anyways, here's a Lucy related question... How many albums does she have out and how can I go about getting them? The record stores I've gone to don't have her. Where do you guys go?
