Re: [lucy-list] Tour Postcard/Radio Play ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 22 Mar 1999 11:32:28 -0600 From: "E. Timothy Bruce" Subject: [lucy-list] Friday Night at the BOTHY Folk Club A great room; a great sound system, a great performance! Friday, 19. March at Ylvisaker Auditorium on top of a big hill in Mankato, MN, Lucy put on a great "hall" show to complement her past few performances in Southern Minnesota which were out-of-doors (under heavy weather!). A happy coincidence that the folk club's usual venue (the Eagles' Club) had a conflict...for this was a real theatre stage with accoustics to match! The lighting was way above average...which is good because both I and Lucy-husband Rick Litvin were capturing the moment on film (myself with an SLR, Rick with a video camera since he is a professor at a Film School!) I'll know by 5:00 PM whether or not the photos turned out (cross your fingers, please as I no-longer take a lot of photos with an SLR inside without a flash). Y'all will see them, though, if they do because Kodak is going to put them on a disk for me. For those lucky enough to live in Mankato, the show will be re-broadcast on public access cable sometime (but don't ask me, I don't know!) The two set show proceeded as follows: Speaking With the Angel One Good Reason Ten Year Night Scorpion (applause as the first chords were struck) End of the Day Loudon Wainwright's "The Swimming Song" If You Could See By Way of Sorrow This is Mine - ---*INTERMISSION*--- Mary and the Soldier What's So Funny 'Bout P, L, and U? Turn the Lights Back On For Once in Your Life The "Pi" Song (wuth a long preamble about Dr. K. Dad) When I Get to the Border - ---*Encore*--- Guinevere There were between 150 and 200 present at the show which filled nearly every comfy seat. As you can see, the show drew very heavily from her CD's and nearly one-in-three of those present left with a new Lucy CD! We all wish her the best of luck with the release of Ten Year Night tomorrow! My favorite photo from the cd (the one of her standing on the street holding a guitar) is the picture used on this card. Looks great! I am so looking forward to hearing her play live this weekend (with Duke Levine). I've heard "One Good Reason" on the radio a couple of times here in Boston already. Hoping to hear lots more of this cd on the airwaves, - -Denise ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Mar 1999 17:51:05 EST From: MistyBC@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Pretty In Pink. Hi Alana! I am also a Lucy-Lister, and would like to say welcome to the list!!! Now, someone asked for you to send them Australian sand. How ridiculous. Actually, I am here to ask you of a similar favor. My father visited Australia a few months ago and brought me many gifts. One of these was a large bar of Violet Crumble by Nestle. Well, I am now very much in love with the candy. The taste is just pure heaven, in my opinion. So, my question... would you be willing to send me bars of Violet Crumble? I would be oh-so willing to pay for the candy and the shipping costs, and maybe extra gifts!!! (Like a recording of a Cry Cry Cry concert... or a Cry Cry Cry radio broadcast??) This wonderful candy is not available in the United States, and this makes me want to cry (almost). Please let me know if you can help my sweet tooth. Misty Cochran P.S. One more thing: Have you heard of The Velvet Janes? I am a big fan of Sark, the inspirational author/artist/free spirit, and she recommends their music. I heard they opened for Ani in Australia, and that they originate from there. If you have heard their music, what is it like? Any good? I will trust you since your tastes are just brilliant. Life is just not fair....not fair at all I say.... On another topic, WFUV in NYC has been playing cuts from Ten Year Night all day long. Yesterday a friend from Philadelphia told me that WXPN has been playing songs as well. Very nice indeed.
