He also recently produced Jennifer Kimball's solo debut "Veering from the Wave" which is so totally different from TYN it cannot possibly be explained. Ben also played not-drums on Patty Larkin's "Perishable Fruit". He made percussive sounds on stringed instruments, as no drums were used. I think the influence of the producer varies incredibly from artist to artist. Jennifer has said that Ben really came up with the way her record sounds, which is very edgy, with lots of electronica-type bits and sampling. TYN sounds much more like a country record, with straightforward production and instrumentation. Duke Levine also plays guitar on TYN; he played with the Story as well. If you've never been to a concert in a house, try this one. Artists have just about deemed her the queen of house concerts! As you can tell, I am one of FOLKUS' biggest fans. And yes, I was there for Lucy's performances. She brightened our whole evening with her voice and guitar playing. So, come on out and see Louise Taylor on March 27th. The folks are friendly and the atmosphere light. Hope to see you then. I know Richard & Dar were there last year, not sure about Lucy. If anyone has info, please share. Thanks very much. I think Ten Year Night is a terrific album and will be recognized by mainstream radio very shortly. I know that will be good for Lucy financially, I just hope it's not the end of her unique and endearing qualities as a performer. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Mar 1999 11:07:50 -0500 From: Kerry Bernard Subject: [lucy-list] C3 Great Aunt Stella Concert Online The Cry Cry Cry concert at the Great Aunt Stella Center (2/11/99 - Charlotte, NC) is up and running at broadcast.com! First Dar, now John....who's next Richard, Ferron or Steve Earle? Please refrain from adding names which just add insult to the injury which we are already feeling....<> Also, while I am dealing with disappointment, I have finally managed to get over Jodi's horrifically shameless plug for her upcoming house concert with Louise Taylor on 3/27 (oops, that's another plug isn't it?). I have chosen to forgive her primarily because she deserves some slack because she is, as she claims, the 'originator' of this List, and we all owe her a round of applause for that alone<>. For those who are less forgiving, I will throw in the added information that I have been told by 'veteran attendees' that Jodi's house concerts are always fabulous and should not be missed. You can check them out at her site (which she neglected to give us, but is: http://danarobinson.uneb.edu/folkus/ ). Finally, if anyone needs any additional reason for forgiveness, go check out the photo credits at the Falcon Ridge site: (http://www.falconridgefolk.com/performers.html) . Who knows, maybe someday Jodi will take your picture and make you famous as she has done for Mr. Greg Brown (among others). <> Well done, O Great Originator! I just got on the lucy-list a few days ago and am having trouble making sense of some of the entries. It would be helpful if all radio station call letters could also refer to a city and frequency (maybe in parentheses after the station name). Also, maybe the entries can go in chronological order from first received to last received? thanks, jane ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Mar 1999 15:29:48 -0500 From: Kerry Bernard Subject: [lucy-list] Cry3 Show Cancellation/Re-location Hey folks, An important note to anyone who currently holds ticket for the April 16 Cry Cry Cry show at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport, PA.
