Well, my wife called me at work, late yesterday,(Friday), to tell me that my "TYN" CD had arrived in the mail!! Rushed home, tore open the package, removed the shrink-wrap, stuck the disc in the CD player, and ...REALLY ENJOYED!!! I've only listened to the entire album once through, but I guarantee that it will be "coming out of my speakers" ALOT, in the days and weeks ahead!! GREAT!! I placed a phone call on Wednesday afternoon to Red House, and they said that there had been somewhat of a backlog of orders, and believed that it had probably just been sent out. So, if you are still waiting for your order to arrive, I would bet that you should have it very shortly. Believe me, it is WORTH the wait!! Bought my ticket on Thursday, for Lucy's April 30th appearance at The Columbus Music Hall, in Columbus, Ohio.(Can't wait for that!!) So, you might say that my last couple days have been heavily "Lucy-laden"! Unfortunately, I don't think that I will be able to hear LK on "Folkstage" from Chicago, as WebTV has not "updated" to Broadcast.com's audio "capabilities" yet!! I think that I'll give it a try anyway.....you just never know!! Have a Great Weekend!! BRIAN M. Maybe I got it sooner because I said "yes" to a free catalog, too. On Fri, 12 Mar 1999 15:16:03 -0500, Gary DeCoker wrote: >>Brian wrote: >> >><>Wednesday, (3/3), at lunchtime, (1-2 pm). I saw/heard/met Lucy in Feb. at the Folk Music Society of Huntinton's gig on Long Island. Seemingly Lucy played here in Edinburgh last year at la Belle Angele. She and Rick told me they loved Scotland and want to come back. Hope so. Get in touch if you're coming this way. Can't get much closer than that. Saw your email this evening and just thought I would say "Hi". It is nice to hear from someone who lives on this side of the pond who has even heard of Lucy. Like you I am a recent convert and just love her music and the covers she does of one of my other big songwriters Richard Thompson. Wish I knew of Lucy when she played La Belle Angele last year. Keep in touch as I know no-one else who I can talk "Lucy" with. It is coming through great, even as I type this. The only bummer is that I have misplaced my adapter, so I can't feed it into my stereo system (might have "loaned" it to one of my friends...). At least I found a pair of headphones - beats the laptop speakers! I also plan on catching the WFUV broadcast tomorrow morning. What a great weekend for catching up with Lucy! Hi, y'all. I was just thinking (don't worry, I wasn't hurt ;D ) about this summer, and Lucy's tour schedule. As of now, she's slated to perform at the Ravinia Festival just outside of Chicago on August 24... on a double bill w/Dar... thus the cancellation of Rocky Folks, I would guess. Here's my idea. I've worked for Ravinia for years and still have connections/know the ropes. I wondered if there would be enough interest to make arrangement for a group purchase for the Lucy-List. I would need confirmation (aka money) from at least 30 people buying at least one ticket each. We could plan to eat picnic dinners beforehand, and, if we were really clever, I s'pose we could make attempts to get her to come say "hi" :) (I do like to dream.) I am more than willing to make ticket arrangements & handle payments etc. I can also serve as a clearinghouse for hotel & transportation info, if necessary. The thing is, as I was acting manager of group sales 2 summers ago, they are really already taking tentative reservations, which means we need to think seriously *now.* Groups receive the benefit of priority seating when available and a 20% discount when applicable. Given the present difficulty in predicting the draw of this concert, I can't say if there may be a cut rate or not. SO -- get out your calendars and email me privately at by 5 pm Central Time on Friday, March 19 if you are interested. I'll report back to this list if we have enough. Let me know if there is at least a 70% chance you'd come. If you'd like more info about Ravinia, go to According to wherever I got the info (drawing a blank), she's slated for the Martin Theater, which is a beautiful place to see a performance. Usually used for chamber groups, I can't say that I've seen a group amplified in there yet, not to say that they won't for this show. Capacity, about 850. Recently rehabbed. Highly recommended. :) Hope to hear from you! ~Kelli "Music.... it's the best drug in the world." ~ Sarah McLachlan ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Mar 1999 01:13:31 EST From: Srrlists@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Summer concerts 1999: group gathering? Kelli, I'd be interested in a couple. If I can't make it, I have family that lives in the area, so could pass the tix. Along. Could you let me know if you have any other info, e.g., price, whether prioritity seating will be available, etc. Thanks, Susan Rosen ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V1 #20 ****************************** This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
