Just call the WFUV listener line at 1-718-817-4535 and listen to Lucy greet you and run through the options of the various services available at the station. Even a long distance call won't set you back more than $.50 for a couple of minutes. As I listened to the Mountain Stage show last week I noticed that whenever Lucy is singing harmony in a duet or in a group my attention is drawn to her voice. On the show, whenever she sang with a group her voice dominated. My impression is that when she sings duets with Dar Williams, Dar's voice is (just) there, but Lucy's really stands out. Wow. Did you ever notice that some singers and groups from England sing with a British accent? Well, being a New Yorker, I can't help but notice that Lucy sings with a midwestern accent! Notice the way she sings and pronounces the words "bar, car, far, star." And of course, Dar. It's that nasal sound. I love it. I'm really enjoying the interaction of the folks on this new list. With respect to putting together a full list of Lucy's cds, I also just read somewhere that Lucy recently worked with Daryl Purpose on his new album. I think it was someone who was at the Folk Alliance who wrote something about a beautiful song they heard which may have been called The Wedding Song. Somehow I didn't find it very difficult to imagine Lucy singing on another beautiful song. Does anyone know anything about this? Also, it's just a matter of time before someone brings up all the Fast Folk music and the Lucy and Shawn Colvin music most of us have never even heard. Bye for now. I haven't had an opportunity to send this out sooner... my play, ALLEGRO, is a Semi-Finalist in the Riant Theatre One-Act contest. Which means we get another performance this coming Thursday, March 18, at 7 p.m. The other play performing after ours is THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW, also a Semi-Finalist (of course). The audience votes for which of the two plays on the bill they liked best, and so we have a 50/50 chance of getting to the finals - two more performances on Saturday 3/20 at 7 p.m. and Sunday 3/21 at 3 p.m. ALLEGRO is a heartfelt drama set in 1966. 19 year old Catherine arrives home for Christmas five months pregnant. She is determined to keep her baby, despite pressure and concern from her family and outside influences. The Riant Theatre is at 161 Hudson Street, 4th Floor (between Hubert & Laight, 3 blocks south of Canal Street), New York City. We could use your votes to advance to the finals! It's done by ballot. So if you can come and support my marvelous cast, please call (212) 925-8353 for reservations. Tickets are $15.00. Thank you! I, too, agreed to pay $15 plus $4.00 shipping and after 8 days still haven't seen the new CD. Red House isn't a huge operation, but that's precisely why they have to do a better job. If they don't, then more people will turn to the big companies like Borders. I prefer supporting the small companies like Red House. But when I have to pay more so I can wait longer, it doesn't make it easy.
