Don't forget, this was national television. They looked and sounded great, and even though all of us would have preferred at least an hour long special with in depth interviews to follow, no one should have been expecting more than we got. For a 'mainstream' variety show it was about as much as we could expect. On a related note, I really enjoyed the segments with those chubby guys with the household fix it tips, the segment on cleaning out your medicine cabinet, and the wonderfully intelligent and revealing banter between the host and hostess of the show. If only they could have had the Crypeople on with Martha Stewart my Saturday would have been complete. :-) Harvey ************************************************************************* To unsubscribe from the Lucy Kaplansky mailing list, send a a message to majordomo@smoe.org with the text "unsubscribe lucy-list" in the body of the message. ************************************************************************* ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Mar 1999 22:09:37 -0500 (EST) From: Phil Kalina <76106.566@compuserve.com> Subject: [lucy-list] Lucy on CBS? If not, can some- body post one? Or maybe, this being a new list, I should wait a few days--give people a chance to subscribe-- before I post this question? Many thanks. We have to come up with something better than Lucy-lings. I'm a new Lucy fan, since I discovered her through Dar Williams and really became a fan of her voice and music through Cry3. I'm really looking forward to 10 Year Night (unlike some people, I'm a mere mortal and I have to wait til the actual release date to get it) and I'm very excited about the Lucy list. Hope everybody has a swell day. I first saw Lucy a little over a year ago, and have been listening to her ever since. She's one of my three favorite musicians. The other two being Nanci Griffith and Dar Williams. (I've got other "favorites" but these three remain on top) Lucy's great in CRyCryCry of course! The Charlotte show was amazing! Can't wait to hear Ten Year Night! Don't worry Carey, there are some other "mortals" out there... and I'm one. Even tho it seems the list of "lucky people" keeps growing. :) Oh, I have a question. Dar and Richard lended some *beautiful* harmonies to the song "Ten Year Night" at the CryCryCry concert. Do either of them sing harmony on Lucy's new CD? Does anyone know how many of us there are on this Lucy-list so far? Just wondering. :-) Hope you all have a nice night. ~Jen~ ************************************************************************* To unsubscribe from the Lucy Kaplansky mailing list, send a a message to majordomo@smoe.org with the text "unsubscribe lucy-list" in the body of the message. ************************************************************************* ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Mar 1999 23:35:10 -0800 From: "Bob Mak" Subject: Re: [lucy-list] silly introductory post How about Lucites??????? *grin* ************************************************************************* To unsubscribe from the Lucy Kaplansky mailing list, send a a message to majordomo@smoe.org with the text "unsubscribe lucy-list" in the body of the message. ************************************************************************* ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Mar 1999 23:10:10 EST From: SteadyOnDC@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] Advance order Lucy's new cd Carey wrote: <> Welcome Carey, You don't really have to wait to get Lucy's new cd...(if you have a credit card and a phone). I'm Audrey, I started out as a Dar fan also, I'm guessing the majority of us did :) I saw Cry Cry Cry in Philadelphia, an incredible show. I bought Lucy's Flesh and Bone cd, and I love it. I was just wondering what she chose to sing from her new album at the concerts people have gone to, and your impressions of it. For Philly, I don't remember the name but it was about meeting a guy and falling in love, she introed it by commenting that Dar Williams called her a slut when she heard it. Anyone else know it? I really liked it, I went out at intermission and bought flesh and bone. I have a question for all of you-- has anyone gotten a chance to see Lucy sing with the Wayfaring Strangers? I've only seen the group once, but it was here in Boston and Lucy wasn't there (_not_ that I'm complaining about seeing Jennifer Kimball sing with them-- that was really excellent-- but I am curious as to what it's like when Lucy is there. I'm really hoping to catch a performance that involves both Lucy and Jennifer singing vocals for the band.) Just curious, Theresa :) ************************************************************************* To unsubscribe from the Lucy Kaplansky mailing list, send a a message to majordomo@smoe.org with the text "unsubscribe lucy-list" in the body of the message. ************************************************************************* ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Mar 1999 00:02:30 -0500 From: "Jennifer L. They came on about 10:15 EST and sang "Don't Fall on Me" by REM. They did the Robert Earl Kean song from the album and got chopped off in the middle by commercials. Finally, they sang another song, (I forgot the name, with Lucy singing lead) as the credits were rolling. There was some small talk with all three members. I was glad to see them get the publicity. I did tape it. By the way, Lucy appeared live on the Fordham University Station (WFUV) this afternoon and sang a couple of songs from her new album.
