[Last updated on: Wed Nov 14 14:31:45 2001] Welcome to lucy-list, the Lucy Kaplansky mailing list! PLEASE READ AND SAVE this message for future reference. ABOUT LUCY-LIST ================== Lucy-list is an email list for fans of Lucy Kaplansky. All are welcome, but please be aware that there are a few basic guidelines for the group. These guidelines are outlined below, and are aimed at making (and keeping) the list a friendly place to be. This list is available in both regular and digest format. Regular means that you will receive each message individually. Digest means that the list server will compile all list messages and send them to you as one long message, either every 24 hours or when a certain size quota is reached, whichever happens first. To change from regular mode to digest mode, you can send one message to Majordomo@smoe.org with the following lines in the body of the message: unsubscribe lucy-list subscribe lucy-list-digest To change from digest mode to regular, you would reverse them as follows: unsubscribe lucy-list-digest subscribe lucy-list Lucy-list was established on February 20,1999 by Jodi Sussman (radnj@aol.com) and Bill McDonough (billmcdo@bellatlantic.net). Thanks to the folks at smoe for giving us a place to call home. If you have any questions about the list, please contact the list owner at owner-lucy-list@smoe.org. IMPORTANT EMAIL ADDRESSES ============================== There are three main email addresses to be aware of: LUCY-LIST@SMOE.ORG - This is the list address. Any mail sent here will automatically be forwarded to all members of the mailing list. MAJORDOMO@SMOE.ORG - All majordomo commands should be sent here. OWNER-LUCY-LIST@SMOE.ORG - All mail sent here will automatically be forwarded to the list owner. Majordomo commands can also be sent to lucy-list-request@smoe.org or lucy-list-digest-request@smoe.org, provided you know the correct command syntax. BASIC POSTING GUIDELINES =========================== These guidelines are intended to keep things friendly and the subjects mostly on-topic. The most important is to be nice to each other. About the only thing we will probably all agree on is that we love Lucy's music. But let's disagree agreeably. If you feel the urge to flame someone, hold on to the message for a while and think about it before you send it. Posts about anything relating to Lucy are always ok. Off-topic posts that are relevant to the list are also ok. Conversations will go off on tangents and that's fine. But when it's obviously become personal, please take it off-list. Please use descriptive subject lines. This way, people can tell right away whether a post will be of interest to them. Please only send plain text messages. Also, do not send any of the stuff littering the net, such as chain letters, virus alerts or other messages of this type. We will try to keep the spammers away but sometimes one or two might get through. The worst thing to do is reply to them. The best thing is to ignore them completely. A MESSAGE FOR NEW SUBSCRIBERS ================================ If you are joining this mailing list for the first time, then welcome to our community! We look forward to your input. Don't be shy about stepping forward to introduce yourself to the list, or about asking questions. If you have any questions about Lucy that are not answered on the list, go to her web site, which is http://www.lucykaplansky.com where you will be able to find all sorts of cool information, including links to Lucy's concert schedule. You can also check the archives for past messages. Plain text archives are available at http://www.smoe.org/lists/lucy-list/ and a nice searchable archive is available at http://grassyhill.org/stax/lucy-list If you have any administrative problems or questions about the list, please don't hesitate to contact me at owner-lucy-list@smoe.org. I will get back to you as soon as I can. Welcome again, and enjoy your stay, Jodi Sussman and Bill McDonough
