San Francisco: Hotel Utah on Aug. 2. 9 PM, $7. Scott will also be performing solo at International Pop Overthrow, San Francisco, at Thee Parkside on Aug. 19. 9 PM sharp, $8. The Looky Loos will be opening the Fox and Goose show. It's on a Saturday night, so everyone can stay out late and enjoy some delicious pub fare. I love the Fox and Goose and am really excited about this show! Scott tells me that Kenny Kessel & Joe Becker will be joining in as well, so expect lots of classic LF/GT hits as well as new material. For the Hotel Utah show, which will be on a Wednesday, I lobbied successfully to get a band to CLOSE the show so the Loud Family portion of the evening can start at 9 and wrap up before midnight. If you *can* stay up, Anton says the other band on the bill (Pets) is really good. Still hoping to set up shows in LA, Portland & Seattle. The official release date for "What If It Works" is Tuesday - July 11. It'll be available at Amazon.com, CDUniverse, et al, as well as "brick & mortar" stores (if you don't see it, they should be able to order it from our distributor, Burnside). I had been hoping to sell 200 pre-orders via the 125 Records web site... unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to fall short (we've sold 185 so far) but I'm still trying to get the word out that the album is here, and get more reviews, press coverage etc. The income from 185 copies doesn't even BEGIN to cover the costs associated with recording & manufacturing the album, so if you like the CD and want more Loud Family music & tour dates in the future, blog about it and/or tell your friends!! (I only mention the number because a lot of people don't understand how hard it is for independent labels to make money. Selling 1,000 copies of any CD -- the usual break-even number for a small label like ours with little overhead -- sometimes feels akin to climbing a mountain.) http://www.loudfamily.com/ - new "Ask Scott" and an interview with Scott http://www.125records.com/ - LF CDs shipping immediately! ------------------------------ End of loud-news-digest V8 #6 *****************************
