Gotta giggle when Scott says to the crowd, "That's a REAL old one." It was only four years old then; it's TWENTY years old now! Yikes. But it still sounds fresh to me! And as a special treat for our list subscribers, we've got a bonus track: a 1988 Game Theory cover of Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers' "Roadrunner." You will have to use this URL to download it, since it's not linked from the web site: http://www.loudfamily.com/audio/roadrunner.mp3 "Roadrunner" was recorded on Jan. 27, 1988 at the Rat. If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, there are three events you need to know about. Most important is of course Scott's solo gig opening for the Posies on Feb. 10. Advance tickets are available online at http://www.virtuous.com/search/events_venue.php?venueid=JF001 This coming Saturday, Feb. 3, there are two fine gigs to choose between. Longtime SM pal Anton Barbeau and his band will be performing at Brainwash at "8-ish." It's a club/laundromat, so feel free to bring your dirty clothes along. Also, former LF keyboard player Alison Faith Levy will be performing with ex-Sneetch Mike Levy (no relation) at Cafe du Nord. The band will be made up of three Sneetches, Alison and guitar player John Moremen, who has opened for the LF. You can hear a radio piece on the Popular Noise Foundation, featuring an interview with Scott and a snippet of his solo acoustic version of the Avengers' "Corpus Christi," at http://www.nonogirl.com/playlist/interview/cover2cover/index.html The most recent Ask Scott appeared on Jan. 22. He drops a LOT of names in this one, including Derrida and Wittgenstein. - --Sue Trowbridge * albany, california trow@slip.net * http://www.interbridge.com ------------------------------ End of loud-news-digest V3 #4 *****************************
