This demo version of "Rosy Overdrive" is thought by some to be superior to the PLANTS track. It's *very* different, so even if you've heard "Rosy," don't miss "Rose of Sharon." And just for being you, loud-news subscribers only are getting a special BONUS October MP3! It's Scott Miller and Anton Barbeau's loopy cover of the Beatles' "Revolution 9," recorded for a WHITE ALBUM tribute that never materialized. No, it's not as long as the Beatles' track. To download this track, you must paste this URL into your browser: http://www.loudfamily.com/audio/nine.mp3 "Revolution 9" will *only* be available during October, so act now! Thanks to Mixmaster Steve Holtebeck for sharing. Instead of telling your friends where to find the track, urge them to subscribe to loud-news. :) I want more, more, more people on this list!! In the future, I hope to present more exclusive features just for our subscribers! Speaking of Anton, his new album 17TH CENTURY FUZZBOX BLUES is available now. One track, "Little Daisy," was mixed and co-produced by Scott. There's more info at Anton's web site, antonbarbeau.com, and a few audio samples at frigidisk.com. And don't forget about Alison's new CD, MY WORLD VIEW, available on Magnetic. Her CD release party will be held Oct. 29 at the Make-Out Room in SF. Scott's gig at the Starry Plough was terrific, although way too short. He and Yuji Oniki played a selection of Scottsongs, such as "We Love You Carol and Alison," "Don't Respond, She Can Tell," and "Asleep and Awake on the Man's Freeway," plus Nico's "Fairest of the Seasons" and an unexpected cover of Morrissey's "Last of the Famous International Playboys"!! On the latter track, Bradley and Ian from Yuji's band joined in to help 'em rawk out. Lots of fun!! There was a very large and enthuasiastic crowd there to cheer him on, considering Scott was stuck in the opening slot. Let's hope he decides to do it again soon. Scott and his wife Kristine are currently on a well-deserved vacation (Scott got a promotion at work and has been putting in long, long hours lately). Unfortunately, Ask Scott is going to have to be put "on hiatus" for a while -- Scott takes his column writing duties very seriously and it generally takes him 2 hours to craft a reply, so it's simply not possible for him to work on it right now. Hopefully it will be back someday; the mailing list will certainly know the minute that happens!
