The EP's will come with download cards as I understand it, but the Dead Center CD will not include downloads of Fred's songs. Fred's and I discussed this at length and his decision was not borne of anything other than his current feeling that the songs no longer feel representative of what he was aiming for in Game Theory. Fred has agreed to okay the use of "Faithless", which we will be putting in it's proper place (on Real Nighttime), but I'm sorry to everyone who wanted the songs widely reissued. Again, the release of the EP's, remastered and on colored vinyl (Pointed Accounts on clear vinyl and Distortion on translucent green vinyl) is exciting for me but presents a small bit of complication. There will be quite a few made (1500 of each as I understand it) but it will only officially be sold in independent record stores. Often releases like these stick around after Record Store Day if enough are pressed and I'm hopeful that will be the case since I'd like to see everyone who wants them get them. If you are out of range of an independent record store, It is typically the case with many if not most Record Store Day releases that after an initial price surge on sites like eBay and Discogs, the resale markets such as these see the pricing level off to something quite close to the original shop price plus shipping; while this is something I certainly can't guarantee, a simple search of Record Store Day or RSD on eBay will show you that much of what's come out on past Rec! ord Store Days has leveled in price (unless it's a Big Star, Beatles or Foo Fighters record). Additionally, I still see nearly all of a number of other labels Record Store Day releases from 3-4 years ago festering in the bins of my local record shop (anyone looking for $13 two song Sundazed 7"s likely has little problem finding them). Hope this answers a few questions. Since the Record Store Day decision was frustrating to some in the Facebook group, I simply want to mention that labels like Omnivore rely on independent stores and Record Store Day is kind of a way to give back to brick and mortar shops, a way for them to have a surge of sales which (in many cases) helps keep them afloat. A lot of records that appear on Record Store Day would not otherwise see release and the two EP's definitely fall into that category. - - Dan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Oct 2014 00:53:50 -0700 From: Dan Vallor Subject: [loud-fans] Re: Dead Center Fred had asked that his songs be left behind when it came to the CD, but agreed to okay their use by us in doing special re-releases of the EP's as colored vinyl 10" records (with Fred's songs intact) for Record Store Day on the day after Thanksgiving in the US (I refuse to use the world that commonly denotes the day). I confess I'm a bit bummed not only by Fred's decision, but the decision to make the EPs a limited-edition affair... mostly because it means I'm gonna have to get up at goddamn o'clock, schlep out to Hollywood and wait in a line for hours for a CHANCE at snagging those little round beauties. (In April, I missed out on the R.E.M. Unplugged LP set under these same circumstances, and they printed considerably more copies of that one. On the other hand, I did get that Minus 5 quintuple-LP set, and they printed considerably fewer copies of that one.) I'll keep my fingers crossed. West Anthony Sent from my magical iPhone...
