To: Krueger.Thomas@epamail.epa.gov, andrew.hamlin@gmail.com Hi Thomas/Andrew- Wondering if either of you saw this. I posted on Thursday in response to Andy's initialm Pazz/Jop message, but as far as I can tell it never got posted. I've had this problem before, I send to loud-fans@smoe.org, am I doing something wrong? Anyway, if either of you would like to forward to the list feel free. Thanks! ______________________________________________________________ Would love to see one of glenn's centricity analyses. I suddenly became a lot more "normal" this year, as for the first time in history my top two matched P&J's (albeit in reverse order) and four of my list placed in their top 11. I was really surprised- pleasantly so- to see Bon Iver's relatively weak showing. Nothing against Mr. Vernon, I just don't think the record's that special. Biggest surprise to me was the Roots' high finish for a record that was released just over a month before the poll deadline. Really shows the changes in how we consume music- in bygone days, undun would have finished around #82, then appeared in the higher reaches of the 2012 list when Xgau aggregated the prior year's ballots. Given its scathing press, I almost wonder if the multiple mentions for lulu were part of some coordinated prank. And in this day and age I was happy to see the list can still lead to new discoveries. I sure didn't know the Ex had a new album. I knew Wussy did, but I hadn't found it yet (now on emusic, though the band website says it's not "officially" out until Feb). FWIW, my faves (anyone compiling a LoudFans list this year?) tUnE-yArDs PJ Harvey Go!
