I won't tell Mr. Zuckerberg if you won't. 2011 hasn't been bad so far, but it hasn't been as great as 2009 or the mighty 2010. However, the Joy Formidable's THE BIG ROAR has become my favorite album of the last 20 years. It's everything I always wanted those MBV or Lush albums to be, and I haven't gotten the least bit tired of it, even though I spent a whole month listening to nothing else. (It should be noted that I am *not* the kind of person who plays an album over and over and over, no matter how much I love it, so this was an exceptional event indeed.) later, Miles ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Jul 2011 13:37:28 -0400 From: Larry Kooper Subject: [loud-fans] turntable.fm Any of you guys using turntable.fm? There have been five albums so far in 2011 that I like a LOT: PJ Harvey- Let England Shake tUnE-yArDs- w h o k i l l The Go! Team- Rolling Blackouts Gold-Bears Are You Falling In Love? F**ked Up- David Comes to Life Any fans of Boyracer/early Wedding Present who have yet to hear the Gold-Bears are advised to download NOW!!! Eliot Sadie Darren Hayman January Songs Lucinda Williams Blessed Sick of Sarah 2205 Cult Of Youth Cult of Youth Anna Waronker California Fade Fujiya & Miyagi Ventriloquizzing The Go! Team Rolling Blackouts The Mountain Goats All Eternals Deck Capsula In The Land of Silver Souls Johnny Foreigner Certain Songs Are Cursed Gang Of Four Content Telekinesis 12 Desperate Straight Lines IceAge New Brigade I Was Totally Destroying It Preludes Lucinda scores kinda too high because the record has a zillion songs on it, but overall I don't think it's a bad list. Although it doesn't have anything by Mixtapes on it, coz their records are so short. ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V10 #48 *******************************
