Is it strange how in the facebook era Loudfans soldiers on in this format? Or, that the list even exists now when there hasn't been a proper LF album in a decade? (that says a lot about the quality of Scott's work) I remember ten years ago suggesting we post pics of ourselves to give others an idea of who they were talking to like the Coupland list had done, and that went over, to paraphrase DC, "like a dog farting." (by the way, the new DC novel, PLAYER ONE, is quite good--elements of previous novels are incorporated into the text--and it is surreal to see my name on the thank you page--first the phone book, now this! "I was born a poor black child."). I think this book could be made into an excellent film with A-list actors. Earlier this year I talked to an elderly man at the Radio Shack who wanted to get a cassette head cleaner, because he said his gospel music tapes were getting hard to hear, and asked me to help him, thinking I worked there. I did, and even told him to get a demagnetizer. - --Mark, voluntary Radio Shack geek p.s. I'm wanting that new Sufjan S. album, but am listening a lot to an older album by Phosphorescent called "Pride," and I like that new Elliot Smith collection on Kill Rock Stars. I like Elliot Smith, but not in album form--I can't make it through an entire album without getting bored. I prefer him in a best-of compilation. Absolutely loving the new Belle and Sebastian record as well, and am curious about an Atlanta band called The Howlies. I like what I've heard from them. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Nov 2010 10:11:03 -0500 (EST) From: TruePantone293@aol.com Subject: [loud-fans] The Drums Also, I'm liking that new CD by The Drums, but it kind of fizzles out for me towards the end of the album. - --Mark ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V9 #187 *******************************
