(THE LP also featured Toxic Reasons, the FUs, Zero Boys, Die Kreuzen, and some other bands I never heard of). An unrelated band of the same name was active from 2007-2009. You can easily hear "Vegis" if you type "reference female-fronted punk disc 4" into The Google. Sounds a lot like The Circle Jerks to me. Anybody know anything more about (the 1982) Learned Helplessness? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 May 2010 09:03:44 -0700 (PDT) From: Richard Blatherwick Subject: Re: [loud-fans] New Posies vids Thanks for the links Tim. Good to see the guys with new stuff to play, and another run through Solar Sister is always a treat. There's also a whole raft of vids from the Big Star/ Alex Chilton show/ memorial at SXSW, both on- and back-stage stuff, which is often great. - --- On Wed, 12/5/10, Tim Walters wrote: From: Tim Walters Subject: [loud-fans] New Posies vids To: loud-fans@smoe.org Date: Wednesday, 12 May, 2010, 6:31 Some recent high-def youtubage from the Posies, including two new songs: Solar Sister http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdtQmIhadS8 The Glitter Prize http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zlDT3_aF6g Plastic Paperbacks/Flavor of the Month http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnj41NQbuX0 All recorded last month at KEXP. - -- Tim Walters | The Doubtful Palace | http://doubtfulpalace.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 May 2010 15:42:32 -0400 From: Richard Gagnon Subject: [loud-fans] 80s pop Sarge wrote: > > Speaking of 80s pop, Sarge observes that one-time video sensations > a-ha are > on a farewell tour after 25 years in the biz, mostly not in the US. > Anyone here follow these guys? They were quite wonderful, and, most importantly, Morten Harket was in fine, fine voice. Interestingly, except for one song out of order (because it was part of an acoustic portion of the set), they played selections in reverse chronological order, ending, naturally, with their first single. Here's the set list, in fact: 1. Foot of the Mountain 2. The Bandstand 3. Analogue 4. Forever not Yours 5. Minor Earth Major Sky 6. Summer Moved On 7. Move to Memphis 8. The Blood That Moves the Body 9. Stay on These Roads 10. The Living Daylights 11. And You Tell Me 12. Early Morning 13. Scoundrel Days 14. The Swing of Things 15. We're Looking for the Whales 16. Manhattan Skyline 17. I've Been Losing You 18. Cry Wolf Encore: 19. The Sun Always Shines on T.V. 20. Hunting High and Low Encore 2: 21. Take on Me I'd tell you to catch them while you can, but I think that ship's sailed already, unless you happen to be in Europe later this year.
