However, if your twang aversion is at a lower level than Rog's, I'm still recommending them, and the price for those is just a few clicks and some disc space. I'm also glad that someone gave them a whirl based on my recommendation, even if it didn't work out. Yes, if someone could cordon off Harmony Korine and Quentin Tarantino from the rest of us, they'd have my eternal gratitude. And Andy, I was initially worried about the Patty Griffin being super-gospelly, because I'm not so much down with gospel or that there Jesus, but as it turns out, it's mostly like Patty Griffin. Not FLAMING RED guitar-squall Patty G (could use another dozen of those), but more like CHILDREN RUNNING THROUGH and other recent-ish Patty joints. It's very good. Paula's album is, of course, splendid. And next week, it's the new Jason & the Scorchers, which I will suggest to Rog that he not download, but also means that the 2010 roll continues for me. later, Miles np: The Thermals, NOW WE CAN SEE, which I downloaded from eMusic on Tom Krueger's recommendation and am enjoying quite a bit. Coincidentally, saw a s3 WEEDS episode last night that used a Thermals song in the closing titles, and liked that song too. - -- over a year of feeling guilty about not blogging enough! http://readingpronunciation.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Feb 2010 11:41:39 EST From: JRT456@aol.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] New McCall on eMusic, New Carino In a message dated 2/19/10 8:01:11 PM, sleeveless@suddenlink.net writes: > Give us a report! > Stew & Heidi's "Making It" is a concert with a theater program, and a live recording would be a concept album about their relationship and career. There are lots of great new songs in their expected style, and with interesting instrumentation. There are also some old TNP tunes, and the return of one great composition that's gone unheard since the pair got distracted by "Passing Strange." I've written about this before, but the evening reminded me of Stew's first solo show after he began getting coverage in the New York Times. Some dolt was talking on a cell phone during one of Stew's songs. After the song was over, I told the creep he'd get thrown out if I saw him on the phone again. "But," he protested, "I made the call during the intermezzo!" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Feb 2010 10:46:32 -0700 From: Roger Winston Subject: Re: [loud-fans] New McCall on eMusic, New Carino On Sat, Feb 20, 2010 at 7:24 AM, Miles Goosens wrote: That's a great line.
