I've been trying to get into this, but the phrase that comes to mind is (with apologies to Funkadelic) cosmic slop. It's like the Elephant 6 collective decided to be The Polyphonic Spree. It has some focused, structured moments, but it's so loosey-goosey, any looser and it would break apart. I used to have the first lp, about 8 years ago, but I sold it. I thought I'd give this group another try. I'm not sure I'm going to have this one for the long haul. < My initial reaction is kinda the same as yours, but I'm willing to give it more chances, because some times E6ish stuff takes a while to sink in for me, and the first Circulatory System record certainly did eventually sink in for me, esp. "Joy" and "Lovely Universe" (although I can't be very objective about that record, because it's all bound up in my head with how I met my wonderful girlfriend). I just noticed that there's a short EP from The Sunshine Fix, a.k.a. Bill Doss also ex of Olivia Tremor Control out recently. Available on eMusic for those who do that. ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V8 #186 *******************************
