Latre. --Rog "Some destinies, they should not be delivered But in her eyes I saw a thousand reasons" - -- Jim Carroll, "Day & Night" "Jim says some destinies should not be delivered But you and I see now baby that still they are" - -- Blue Vyster Cult, "In Thee" Ulp, MIke just barely beat me to it... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Sep 2009 15:57:37 -0400 From: outbound-only email address Subject: [loud-fans] Another recommendation: Chris Richards & the Subtractions, Sad Sounds of the Summer This one is especially commended to Steve Holtebeck, if he's still around and doesn't already know about it. Top-drawer jangly, harmony-filled power-pop. Reminds me most particularly of vintage Tommy Keene, along with the other usual suspects. I have a few quibbles w/ the mix, but they're minor. "Sad Sounds of the Summer" is available at notlame, cdbaby, itunes, amazon, etc. ("I, Miss July" seems to be the tune of choice shared up by bloggers around the internets; I lucked into the record via beattheindiedrum.com, which has been making me spend some money lately.) I liked it enough to get Richards' previous album "Mystery Spot" from eMusic, even though the new one is clearly a big step forward. ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V8 #177 *******************************
