Yesterday I stumbled on Hussalonia, which asserts that it is a "pop music cult" but seems to basically be one guy writing, recording and releasing music, sometimes with help from friends, most of which is free to download at hussalonia.com and more of which can be acquired via amiestreet, emusic, itunes, cdbaby, and such. Hussalonia is wilfully eclectic, and styles vary considerably between releases. I currently have 206 Hussalonia songs in an iTunes playlist, and I've barely scratched the surface, but so far I've been favorably reminded of Giant Sand, Elliott Smith, Guided by Voices, Frank Zappa, The Residents, The Eels, Jonathan Coulton, John Vanderslice, and, yes, Our Scott. Really very highly recommended. Completely in the "how can this guy have been producing work of such quality and variety since 1997 and I never heard of him before?" category for me. ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V8 #166 *******************************
