Mallon" Subject: [loud-fans] Help Gil compute As you know, Gil Ray is in the hospital today getting his prostate removed by a robot arm. He will be staying there overnight and will be back home tomorrow, where he will spend the next 6 weeks recovering. It might be a few days before Gil feels up to blogging or checking email, but when he does want to communicate with his pals and well-wishers around the country, we'd love it if he could do it in the easiest way possible -- from a wifi connected laptop he can use in his bedroom. Gil's desktop PC is about 8 years old and is verrrrrrry sloooooow. We discussed how much simpler it would be if he had a nice Mac laptop so he wouldn't have to worry about viruses and stuff, and he was all for it. So our plans are to buy a gently used laptop and a router and set them up at Gil & Stacey's home when he feels up to visitors. Here's where you come in. Times are tight for everyone, but if you could spare $5 or $10, it would be great if we could raise some money to help defray the cost of the laptop. If you can't afford to donate right now, that's OK -- we won't name names, we'll say it's from all his friends on loud-fans. If you're interested in chipping in, you can send money via PayPal to info125@125records.com. If you don't yet have Gil's CD, "I Am Atomic Man," or if you'd like to buy an extra copy for a friend, you can buy it from http://www.125records.com/shop.html -- we've temporarily reduced the price to $5, and for every copy that is sold in the next few days, 125 Records will donate $10 to the laptop fund. When everything is set up and Gil's ready, we'll take pictures & post them, so everyone can see him using the laptop. By the way, Gil knows nothing about this and we deliberately waited until he was in the hospital so he wouldn't know what we were up to. How about if a monetary donation was sent to the 125 Records address in the form of money order, check or (taking a chance) wrapped cash, for those who don't use Paypal or don't have a debit or credit card? - --Mark **************Summer concert season is here! A fine place to remind folks that "I Am Atomic Man!" finished at #6 on my Top Ten 2006 list. I'm clearly biased, but I found "Atomic" a charming, witty, and catchy record to enhance the collection of anyone with a love for pop. And now is a better time than ever to buy it! Are Gil's blog entries on the album's creation still up? Andy "I remember the rain, the lack of toilets and the body odor," Bobbi says. "I also remember an orange haze from the glowing lights of the stage. It was everywhere, lighting up the sky." - --from an article on Nick and Bobbi Ercoline, the couple shown on the WOODSTOCK album cover (and original movie poster), at http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/music/2009/07/07/2009-07-07_woodstocks_undercover_lovers_.html ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V8 #116 *******************************
