The film tracks a group of five kids growing up in Woolloomooloo, a notorious public housing estate in the shadow of Sydney's famous glittering skyline. The kids find inspiration after dark when they form a basketball squad to compete in a citywide tournament for underprivileged youth. But the film is about more than basketball. "You get to know the five kids, along with their personal challenges. This is a chronicle of very young people determined to resist the pitfalls of poverty, who work hard to create a brighter future for themselvesbon and off the court," said Revolve Festival founder Shalini Chatterjee. "Playing in the Shadows" will screen at the Salem Fine Arts Center, Drama Workshop, on Friday May 15 at 7 PM. The running time is 53 minutes; the format is high-resolution digi beta.
