HAZARDS isn't really that big a departure for the Decemberists, though, IMO. It sounds very much like THE CRANE WIFE or THE TAIN. I can understand why people might prefer them in more bite-sized form. I'm surprised they followed up CRANE with another concept album. I expected their follow-up to be a bunch of songs like "Valerie Plame." The video for "16 Military Wives" is pretty much how I was in high school (public school, though, not Rushmore). I will say that the proggy incarnations of the Decemberists remind me more of THICK AS A BRICK and A PASSION PLAY (good things in my book) than either ELP or Yes.
