I've seen it several times. And did you ever see the episode of "The Simpsons" where McGoohan played Number Six again? It was like the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup of television -- two great tastes that taste great together! It was loaded with "Prisoner" references that would make no sense to anyone who hadn't seen the show... "Why did you think a big balloon would stop people?" "Shut up, that's why!!" As it happens, that episode was in The Simpsons' 12th season, which is the next one to be released on DVD. I hope they say some nice things about McGoohan in the commentary. Did you know that the reason Number Six was played by a completely different guy in one episode is because McGoohan was filming "Ice Station Zebra" in Hollywood with Rock Hudson? Did you know I found a big coffee-table book about the show in a used bookshop in North Hollywood? I downloaded the British version of the 40th anniversary DVD, because there's a whole feature-length documentary that isn't on the US DVD, and there's also commentary on several episodes. Can you tell I'm a total Prisoner fan? I just thought I'd point that out, in case you didn't notice. I've only seen a few episodes of "Secret Agent", though... I should check those out. They're doing a "Prisoner" remake, but I don't have much hope for it -- Jim Caviezel, the guy who played Jesus in "The Passion Of The Christ", is gonna be Number Six, and they're saying Ian McKellen is going to be Number Two, which is okay, but it sounds like they're just going to have one Number Two through the whole series, and I don't know if I like the sound of that. I gotta get some sleep. I don't know about you, but I'm gonna watch the entire "Prisoner" series this weekend; by a complete coincidence, I was planning on doing that very thing when I took a week of vacation time next month, but things have changed. Be seeing you.... Homer: "I am not a number! I am a man! And don't you ever -- oh, wait, I'm Number Five. Ha ha! In your face, Number Six!" Number Six: "Yes... well done." Interesting. This EP, EARTH SCIENCES, really is nothing but her voice and a kalimba (an instrument I'm deeply fond of anyway), but I'm interested in hearing that in a fuller context. Thanks for the tip.
