They've gone for direct-to-the-hindbrain poppiness this time around. The lead track, "Neon Beanbag", is the catchiest thing I've heard this year outside of Chairlift's "Bruises", despite its not even having a real chorus. Any other bands that have been around for decades and are now being taken for granted I should start paying attention to again? :) -d.w. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Nov 2008 12:49:31 -0800 From: "Andrew Hamlin" Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Chemical Chords > Any other bands that have been around for decades and are now being > taken for granted I should start paying attention to again? :) I've got Fish, Bauhaus, and Alice Cooper on my Top Ten 2008 list. I don't recommend the Alice, a hard rock opera about a serial killer, to any sensitive sensitivities, but I loved all three albums, and they'll probably stick to my list for the end of December. Too bad the new Fireman samples didn't light my fire, Andy Elyot: It doesn't suit women to be promiscuous. Amanda: It doesn't suit men for women to be promiscuous. - --Noel Coward, from "Private Lives" ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Nov 2008 16:04:50 EST From: JRT456@aol.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Chemical Chords In a message dated 11/23/08 3:53:06 PM, andrew.hamlin@gmail.com writes: > > I've got Fish, Bauhaus, and Alice Cooper on my Top Ten 2008 list. > Cooper's in my Top Ten, as well, along with Joe Jackson and (probably) Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby. ABC might've even been considered if it wasn't for one particularly painful lyric. Otherwise, though, this seems to be the year when a lot of older acts really ended up with nothing to say. ************** One site has it all.
