It was a damn fine 2 and a half hour show, starting off solo and acoustic, adding players over the course of a 40 minute initial set. Then off for a quick break before returning for the rest. There was a good mix (or at least I thought so) of recent and more aged material - several songs from The Evangelist, about half of 16 Lovers Lane, and going all the way back to People Say. I don't know if it was down to the new young drummer, or the inevitable change in dynamics in a live show, but a number of the songs seemed to rock a bit more than I remembered. And the guitarist did a grand job of playing the various melodic parts on I'm Alright - a particular fave of mine. Forster has such a great wealth of solo material and it was really great to hear him drawing from all the different stages of his career. The chemistry with his band is strong, too, and I thought they were fantastic. He also did a surprise cover of The Beau Brummels' "Don't Talk To Strangers" that was a special thrill for a couple Brummels fanatics like me and Steve! "Slaught" can be a catcher, but only with the Giants....
