Funny, the time-honored wisdom at our station is "Don't date the  
listeners."  And KCR-FM is still free-form, when anybody's on.  You  
can segue from "So What" by Miles Davis to "So What" by Ministry.

Felt good, didn't it?  Since we no longer do ARC  Overnight live, I've been 
rewarded with the top spot--Saturday morning from  1-5 am.  In the 11 years 
I've been there, it just didn't work out to where  I could do that spot. I think 
I'd done it maybe once in a decade.  Working  weekends kind of killed that 
opportunity for me. Now, 11 years have passed,  and all those guys that did it 
have died off (kidding).  But, when  they have you in the can to play at will, 
they can play you when they want, and  now when I do a show I get best slot!
 
One advantage to being recorded is no pesky callers wanting you to play  
selections from BLOOD ON THE TRACKS.

Now, from 1978, here's the B-52's on DB Records with the  original version of 
'52 Girls.'"

The best segue for me was one I did on a mix tape for playing in my Rabbit  
in college--"We've Only Just Begun" by The Carpenters followed by "Taste the  
Floor" by The Jesus and Mary Chain.
 
It was a joke, but it actually turned out to be a good Yin/Yang kind of  
thing.
