I never heard of this band, which kind of amazes me - they sound a lot like The Connells, only maybe a bit more rootsy. Seems like the sort of thing that we used to bandy about here back in the day for sure. In other news, today I am totally in love with the new singles/rarities/live tracks compilation from The Manhattan Love Suicides (out Aug 12 in the US, since June in the UK, and, yes, on eMusic now). Manhattan Love Suicides pretty much = Jesus & Mary Chain + Lush + Primitives with a dash of My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Aug 2008 13:30:39 EDT From: Markwstaples@aol.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] delilahs In a message dated 8/1/2008 11:49:17 A.M. I'm trying to imagine what PSYCHOCANDY, LOVELY and GALA would sound like mixed together, with LOVELESS and GOO for a garnish. I think it's so up my alley, I'm going to have to get a restraining order . - --Mark "Here's some extra-large condoms. You never know. A girl can dream, can't she?" I had one of their records once with a sing-songy theme song about "Delilah, Delilah, Delilah, etc." Definitely Minnesota based. ----- Original Message ----- From: "outbound-only email address" To: loud-fans@smoe.org Subject: [loud-fans] delilahs Date: Fri, 1 Aug 2008 11:36:36 -0400 eMusic (yes, them again) just added two mid 90's albums by minneapolis (I think?) band The Delilahs (on Drummer Boy Pictures -- there's another, current, Delilahs from Sweden) . I have to agree. They're like Paul McCartney lyrics to me, at his worst ("Let 'Em In"). It's hard to believe that this is a record from the same man who gave us "That's Entertainment." I like the new Rilo Kiley record, though it seems like it was premeditated to appeal to those of us listening to college radio in the mid-'80s. Almost too smooth and palatable, but I want to hear it again, so they snagged me--guilty. - --Mark **************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget?
