So I won't feel bad if no name is proferred. Such a long list. (Sort of like a houseful of potential slayers...) As usual, alas, I'm having a harder time assessing Doug's picks. Matthew Sweet, Gresham Flyers, Thou, California Oranges, and Minisnap all have Amazon listings but no sound samples. Amazon has no listing for any 2008 releases from Sleep Out or Miranda Sound. Telepathic Butterflies sound okay. Earlimart sound a slightly more mainstream, breathy okay. > I found the new Parts + Labor (minutmen/husker du homage 52 "songs" in > ~32 minutes, recorded and mixed in 2 days) pleasantly bracing and look > forward to digging out the poppy nuggets, but my sweetie wanted a shut > door between her ears and the disc, so it's clearly not for everyone. "Homage" to anyone on *Earth*? "Feed a two-week-old punk band coffee beans for their third week then force gunpoint improvisations in an oil refinery surrounding by ELF antennas," say I. Yeah, I made it through all the samples (only 51 at Amazon, though). Imagining Thou would go good with reading about the Axeman of New Orleans, Andy "Without Bach, the theology would be deprived of its object, the Creation would be fictitious, the nothingness definite. If there is anyone who owes everything to Bach, it has to be God." - --Emil Cioran ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V7 #456 *******************************
