I've been enjoying the new release from Ray, Death In Fiction (available on
eMusic),
several tracks free to listen/download at www.last.fm/music/Ray
Not brilliant, but pleasant in a mildly cheesy overblown way.
I get a strong 80s vibe, but not the same 80s vibe as the usual suspects.
The Bolshoi and Echo & the Bunnymen are mostly what come to mind.
