Does that line up with your recollections, Gil? We also knew that the label was starting to go under. We also knew that we would be touring to support the record without any support from Alias. While we didn't really discuss it, I think we all knew that it was over. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I thought the tour would be doomed, and in many ways it was, and that probably made it more palatable to accept the end. Gil I think it was poetic in a way how the Loud Family ended with the end of the century. Yeah, I know the LF technically still exists, but, I think of the last record as The Loud Family in name only. I wish Scott had simply used his name, but he's got that other Scott Miller guy that gets all the attention. I remember how Joe at the station was all excited for me some years back when he e-mailed and said Scott Miller had a new record out, and I WAS excited, for about three seconds, 'til I realized he'd made that common mistake. Scott was seeing the world at 40 back at the end (beautiful friend), and I remember his attitude at that time was that he gave it a good shot, and did his best, but that it was time to accept that it wasn't going to happen for him, and move on. (I remember studying human growth and development in college, and this attitude at 40 is very common--it's the age people reassess their lives and make major changes--and yes, some buy expensive cars they cannot afford, like I did!). He's changed his attitude somewhat, obviously and thankfully, with the appearance of the last release. I remember him talking about not doing music anymore back in the beginning of this decade, and how that upset not just me here! But, I thought then and still think he just needed time--time to be a new husband and dad and time to reapproach his old flame, music, from a different place. If you love music, like we all do here, you may walk away, but your passion will find you eventually. Hell, I haven't been in a band since I was twenty-four, but, at 37, I found myself on a stage in Athens, GA playing tambourine for The Rosebuds, and remembering how much f***Ing fun playing drums in a band was. Even better was when Kelly the keyboardist told me that I needed to form a band and tour with them. I was like ***K YEAH!!! - --Mark **************Need a new ride? Some of the context is left out in the above quotes from my original post, and looking at it seems a little more of a bummer than what I meant. It certainly wasn't all doom and gloom in the studio - there were plenty of good and fun momemts (Jeff was great to work with), it just really seemed like the end was nearing - but it took about half way into the tour to realize it really was over. (but to be honest, the half way point of any tour seems like the end is near!) Gil > Be a better friend, newshound, and > know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Some of it may have been rushed, but I remember there were many songs that I had rehearsal tapes of to help me nail down drum parts. That method seemed to pay off well for me, and I wished I had done that with DFD. While that record was a much more positive experience, I seem to remember the recording process was rushed as well. Probably due to budget restraints more than anything else, though. Gil ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V7 #384 *******************************
