I know this doesn't sound like me, unless I'm abusing anonymous listers named after sexual aids, but this album KICKS PALE WHITE ASS. Yeah, I bought all the Bauhaus stuff, Love and Rockets too, Peter Murphy, David J and even one of Daniel Ash's records (in lovely blue crushed velvet CD case), but, all the time, I thought, I wish Bauhaus would get back together. Age and modern recording equipment makes Murphy's voice sound even better. The music sounds like Love and Rockets, without so much of the T Rexiness. This record is as angular as their blockhead logo. But, it doesn't sound dated at all to me. It sounds like it could come out in 1983, or 2013. I haven't been this excited about a record in quite a while. But in my head I keep seeing Gil in the Loud Family live DVD mock singing "Father forgive me," - --Mark "No one else even tried to fill--or could fill--our shoes. Judging by the Amazon sound samples, they just picked up where they left off a quarter-century ago. Not that that's a bad thing. From the live GOTHAM samples I'd figured Murphy's voice for long gone. Maybe he'd just had a long morning. Reports say they slunk away from each other (again) after wrapping WHITE, making it their Very Very Last Joint Effort (And We Really Really Mean It This Time)! Until another fat paycheck on a hook plunks the water... Yes, Dinosaur Jr.'s BEYOND would probably have made my 2007 Top Ten had I heard it in time, Andy "I have magic powers. I just don't know where I put them." - --Ann Powers' daughter, from Ann Powers website, http://eensyweensy.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V7 #349 *******************************
