Yeah, I know it doesn't fit the criteria, but it's a fantastic song, and, calling ALL SHOOK DOWN a Replacements record is a stretch, anyway, since it was the equivalent of Brian Wilson labeling PET SOUNDS done by The Beach Boys. - --Mark **************Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. Personally I think Pleased To Meet Me runs rings around (blows smoke rings around?) the rest of the catalog. And I'll take Hootenany (despite a higher throwaway rate than Let It Be) over ASD- or probably Tim, for that matter. In a message dated 2/7/2008 10:38:44 P.M. B No. After I thought about it a while, I was going to add a third song to my list--one from ASD. I think The Replacements best records were LET IT BE, TIM and ALL SHOOK DOWN. Excellent cover art on that one as well, - - -Mark **************Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. I seriously love it. Classic example of the cover beating the chitlins out of the original. How many people can claim the definitive versions of songs by The Smiths, The Kinks and Billy Bragg! Chuck Prophet's version of "Don't It Make You Want To Go Home" is incredible. The Everly Brothers beat The Hollies for an entire album's worth of Hollies covers (Two Yanks In England)! Speaking of Dylan covers, Mark Lanegan's cover of "Man in the Long Black Coat" off the "I'm Not There" soundtrack is awesome. I don't think there's a more perfect pairing than Mark and that particular song. There are so many covers, rather than listing them, I will simply refer you to the Dylan Cover database at http://www.baseportal.com/cgi-bin/baseportal.pl?htx=/dylancov/main ... take your pick :-) Well, I can't resist an opportunity to name three offhand: Mr Tambourine Man (The Byrds); Knockin' on Heaven's Door (Eric Clapton); If Not For You (George Harrisson); I am sure that there are some major hits that I am missing.
