Distortion sure seems an appropriate title. Sounds like a mix of Magnetic Fields meets Jesus and Mary Chain. I listened all the way through twice, and I had 2 immediate reactions - I like it, but a little distortion seems to go a long way... It's good to hear more lead vocals done by females. It also reminds more of MF's pre-69 Love Songs. I'm definitely gonna get it. Glad I get paid from my weekend job tomorrow. If there are lots of J&MC comparisons, perhaps he'll play it up by doing a mock PSYCHOCANDY style vid--complete with lots of black, slow mo, and big analog tvs displaying the word "DISTORTION" in low-res. His fan base would get the joke. - --Mark, enjoying the snow but not so much the Willie Nelson mom's playing in the other room--makes me want to wear American flag bandannas, use biodiesel and smoke pot (of course the last two things actually sound pretty good...) **************Start the year off right. The Jesus & Mary Chain comparison is apt--there's almost a constant fuzzy wall of distortion and squealing feedback. I think it works, but i'm still getting used to it. I'm sure I will end up loving it--some of the songs were stuck in my head after first listen. The cover is awful, though!
