Hmmm. I think what happened is that when I checked if the WJ album was recent, I found that the one I liked (40 Days) was released some years ago (about 2004). After some seaching for something else in my collection, I decided upon The Arcade Fire, and thought it should be placed somewhere above Kanye West. Paul King ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Jan 2008 17:13:53 -0800 (PST) From: Sarah Gordon Subject: [loud-fans] Best Of 2007 Hello! Another year, another frantic attempt to remember all the things I loved in the preceding 12 months. 2007 is notable for me because in mid-August, I moved from San Francisco to London. Albums I acquired just before leaving sat unlistened to for a long time as I worked on getting settled in, and I missed out on one third of the year of American culture. All of these are just excuses, because I know I haven't done a thorough listening to all my 2007 records, and I'm sure I've omitted some gems... By the way, if anyone is curious about the London music scene, this is what I've been seeing around town: http://fingeronthepulse.org/london.html I'll be the first to admit I might have played a bit fast and loose with release dates--not intentionally, mind you, but sometimes release dates are a bit ambiguous and things aren't widely available until well after the first published date. Anyway, here is my take on the best of what I experienced in 2007, with full acknowledgment that there are many records and films I didn't hear or see before the year ended.
