If so, are you familiar with different versions of classic songs? I wanted some style council on cd ... I bought a 'greatest hits' collection, and the versions of the songs aren't the ones I want. I have a tape I bought years ago - "My Ever Changing Moods" GEF M5G 4029 - those are the versions I want on CD. If I could find this on CD I would be happy, as it covers most of the songs I want. Does anyone have a handle on the different Style Council CDs and song versions? The problem is that there are several different versions of some of these songs. I know of three versions of "My Ever Changing Moods" alone: 7" single (around 4 minutes), 12" single (nearly 6 minutes) and a completely different version that was on CAFE BLEU, the UK equivalent of MY EVER CHANGING MOODS. I assume that one is on the CD you have: is it a lot slower and piano-based? There were also different versions of "Headstart For Happiness," "The Paris Match" and "You're the Best Thing." (I *think* that's all of them from the MY EVER CHANGING MOODS days.) The original version of "Headstart For Happiness" is fantastic: it's just Paul's guitar and Mick's organ and I think just a pair of claves for percussion. That version was on the INTRODUCING THE STYLE COUNCIL 12". The version that was on MY EVER CHANGING MOODS is a full-band version that had a really terrible soul-man vocal. The album version of "The Paris Match" had Tracey Thorn of Everything But the Girl on lead vocals, as opposed to the original Paul vocal. And there was a single mix of "You're the Best Thing" that was about a minute and a half shorter and had a different lead vocal on it, but that wasn't the version on MY EVER CHANGING MOODS. I'm pretty sure that if you get CAFE BLEU, the UK equivalent of MY EVER CHANGING MOODS, that has the same versions of "Headstart For Happiness" and "The Paris Match" that are on the American album, but you're still stuck without the 7" single mix of "My Ever Changing Moods," which I think is the one that was on the US album. However, I just looked on AMG and it looks like if you got the GOLD compilation, you'll have everything in the versions you want. Contrary to popular opinion, I really liked the Style Council up through the single "Have You Ever Had It Blue." After that, other than a couple of singles ("How She Threw It All Away" is pretty ace), I haven't really liked anything Paul Weller has done ever since.
