I swear, the Boss' new single, "Girls In Their Summer Clothes," sounds  
eerily like The Magnetic Fields--and it's the first song by him I've ever liked  (I 
know I'm supposed to at least like NEBRASKA, but eh).

 Well a couple of things: a Michael Quercio-era GT
playing Sword Swallower in Seattle?

 And 7 minutes of random clips from a much earlier
Quercio rehearsal and show in Los Angeles - possibly
their first full-band rehearsal/show? Gil? - from the
narration (not included) we drove all night from SF to
LA, with bad instructions, to the place we were
crashing, it was blazingly hot even in the morning,
the baked, sleep-deprived band rehearsed that
afternoon - and Donnette sat in on The Real Sheila -
the video quality is poor, dark and grainy - 
 but watching it this week - for the first time in 10+
years, I remembered being thrilled watching Scott solo
during the Jimmy Still Comes Around rehearsal, and
remembered how truly, deeply exciting it was to be
performing the amazing Inverness (looks like Gil is
playing a penny-whistle in the beginning); I was sure
Inverness would the THE sure-fire creation that would
propel Scott and this Game Theory to a stardom of some
sort... lots of talent in that line-up - holy shit -
and great Scott songs, which became Loud Family songs
- -
