Now, that's what I'm talking about! :) Gil She played some funky stuff when she DJd on World Cafe--all cool chick stuff (no testosterone allowed). I like her okay--I do think at one point we were getting too much Neko media saturation--like back in the nineties during that time when Christina Ricci was in EVERYTHING put to film. She still is the "it girl" of independent music, but she and Chan Marshall may be having a grudge match really soon. - --Mark ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Sep 2007 14:16:00 -0400 From: "outbound-only email address" Subject: [loud-fans] Despite my poor track record in predicting loudfan fan-favorites... The new album from Caribou (Andorra) is exactly the sort of thing I would expect many loud-fans to embrace. I gather the guy has an electronica sort of background, but what this sounds like to me is slighty wispy helium-voiced pop (think Shins) with a liberal dose of slighty psychedelic /musique concrete sonic adventurousness (think "Vaccuum Genesis" and the odd-numbered tracks on "Days for Days") and an intermittent injection of krautrock drone (think Neu!). I could wish it was a little hookier, but it's certainly an intriguing listen. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 Sep 2007 19:56:03 -0400 From: Jenny Grover Subject: [loud-fans] test ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Sep 2007 13:40:58 -0400 From: Jenny Grover Subject: Re: [loud-fans] The New Shinographers Scout82667@aol.com wrote: > She played some funky stuff when she DJd on World Cafe--all cool chick stuff > (no testosterone allowed). > I heard that show. It was pretty fun. Wide variety of styles, which was nice -- from Bulgarian women's choirs to Shocking Blue.
