From the manufacturer's product description on Amazon.com: "For maximum versatility, the S630 can be powered by optional high-energy rechargeable Ni-MH batteries as well as available-everywhere AA alkaline cells, which is a surefire boon for travelers and other power users." So are you using "high-energy rechargeable Ni-MH batteries", Mark? I think the problem is that normal grade rechargeables don't actually have as much power as the regular batteries they're replacing. That's based only on personal experience though, so my science may be suspect. Even though I'm in software engineering, I avoided electrical engineering in college like girls avoided me. Seems like your owner's manual should have some additional info on this. Whatever the case, I suggest that you only use the specified type of battery called for in the manual. This ain't just a portable transistor radio. Pretty dry reading, but I'm simply going to have to trudge through it. It's amazing how much digital cameras have improved in a few years. This thing has all sorts of features, and remarkable picture quality for 100 bucks. The teacher I work with has an old Sony digital that belongs to the school that she uses.. It has 1.2 megapixels, and you insert a diskette in it! My cell phone camera is 1.3 megapixels! A functioning dinosaur. - --Mark, blown away by the quality of the new Beetle--it's so nice, I feel like I'm not worthy of such a fine machine--it has a 6-speed automatic transmission that can be switched from automatic to manual shifting--just hope it never breaks $$$ I took it to the local dealer the other day and the dealership is really stylish with hip looking people working there and waiting on their cars--I'm used to the Chevy dealer with Dale Earnhardt pictures everywhere ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V7 #200 *******************************
