I know we've discussed before whether it was legal to sell promo CDs marked "Not for Sale", and the last time this came up, the issue had never been tested in court. On University Way in Seattle's University District, you'll find Cellophane Square, the store where I learned to love rock music. Second Time Around, the other store where I learned to love rock music, sits on the southern part of "the Ave" (as locals refer to University Way). Second Time Around is only a fraction of its original acres-of-vinyl size, but still worth a look. Sonic Boom has several stores around town. On Brooklyn, around the corner from the Neptune Theater and down an outside flight of stairs, you'll find a truly-underground store which I think is called Neptune Music. While I never go there anymore, the Monkey Pub, in the University District at about 53rd and Roosevelt Way, always has loud, frantic, and sometimes interesting bands. Best of all, you can leave the bar when it closes at 2 am and walk right next door for a late dinner/early breakfast at Piccolo's Pizza, which never closes before 3 am. Hope that helps. Is that Music Millennium? I heard they closed their doors. I hope not, because it was one of my favorite places to browse.
