Subject: [loud-fans] New Pornographers/Game Theory

Hey y'all,

I just got back from the New Pornographers/Midlake fourth of July show in 
Battery Park.   It was awesome.   I got a chance to talk to Carl Newman after the 
show and ask him the question I've always wanted to ask him.   He admitted 
that Scott Miller was indeed a big influence on him,   said he loves Real 
Nighttime and Lolita Nation, and said he'd love to cover Dripping with Looks.   I've 
always thought it was impossible that he wasn't a Game Theory fan.

I chatted with him too at the St. Louis appearance on 10/6/05. I told 
him that he might be the next Scott Miller. I then added that it was 
high praise, in case he didn't get the reference. He thanked me but 
didn't seem to recognize the Miller name. (Who knows, maybe I 
inspired interest (or not?).)
His stage banter was a bit awkward (but in a non-pretentious way).
