Some of the lyric pages are temporily offline for reformatting and rework; they're not gone for good. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Jun 2007 13:06:38 EDT From: Scout82667@aol.com Subject: [loud-fans] narcotics free post (indirect Scott content) Currently, I'm on only some generic Aleve and some Starbuck's breakfast blend, so I should be okay to operate heavy machinery, or plastic keyboards. I just had to share this. Really freaky randomness. Mom had done some cleaning out of the basement and forgot and left a plastic bag full of 8-track tapes sitting on top of the lawn mower. I had to take them off when I mowed the lawn yesterday, and there were three stacks of tapes in the bag--two sideways, and in the middle, a vertical stack. What freaked me out was, at the top of this vertical stack was a greatest hits collection of The Box Tops, stamped with the logo of my parents' old music store. What are the odds of that? Scott's fave musician's '60s band at the top of a stack of 8-tracks sitting on the mower of one of his biggest fans? Truth is stranger than fiction, or my posts. - --Mark p.s. Since I shared all that stuff about my sister, here's another freaky thing that happened to me the other day, right after mentioning all that stuff about my sister on-list. Upon picking up a prescription at the pharmacy, the clerk looked at me, and said, "What's your last name--Stacey?" I told her that's my sister's first name, and she said, "Well, maybe you should call her then." Kind of freaking, I told her that I wasn't allowed to, and she said "Well, maybe you should pray for her then." Something tells me that pharmacist wouldn't have sold you one. (I mean, aside from you being a guy and all.) It's hardly a new concept--make your music available to listen to anywhere--but I like their implementation thus far. To deal with the legal issues other attempts have faced, with MediaMaster you literally upload your music, and when you listen to it, you literally listen to the copy you uploaded. (So their servers will have 246 separate but identical copies of "Throwing the Election") You can also create some simple widgets which allow other people to listen to playlists you create, e.g., http://mlmitton.com/tempmedia.html It's still in beta, so features are still on the way (like being able to download your music--helpful for backups) and at this time there is no limit on the amount you can upload (I've uploaded ~40GB thus far). It's also completely free for now, though there will be a tiered service later which will have both free and paying options. Listening is currently 64 kbps, but that will be going up. Are any of you using similar services? How do you like them? As a postscript to last month's discussion on wedding music, I can tell you that using "There She Goes" as the newlyweds march back down the aisle will be a very, very big hit. mm ------------------------------ End of loud-fans-digest V7 #155 *******************************
