[Jenny Grover Subject: [loud-fans] no need to be downhearted I am really enjoying this, the new Electric Soft Parade album. Seems a bit poppier and a bit less gloomy than previous albums (don't get me wrong and read that as my opinion of an improvement, because I love those albums as they are), which makes it perfect summer fare. It is a bit of a departure, but not so drastic that it doesn't sound like "them", and there are soft, slow, quiet songs on here as well as perky ones. "Life in the Back Seat" is a particular delight, that sort of retro beachy loungy pop thing I love (there must be a more succinct genre term for that somewhere). I'm also quite partial to "If That's the Case Then I Don't Know", which isn't that style, but some sort of cross between Madchester and 80s pop a la U2 (chiming, rhythmic guitars). Overall there's a bit of a flavor of Lansing-Dreiden at their best, and of the Beta Band but not as weird. Jen "Your nose rings fell out." "Nah, I left 'em in my bag." And you've been doing a lot of convoluted rambling lately, as evidenced by this post above, which took me some doing to untangle! This is why you need a blog. True enough. I've done some thinking about this, and I just should've left it at, "I need a job that pays more." I'm thinking there may be a correlation between the heavy dosage of pain meds I'm taking and the convoluted rambling, which began at the same time I started them. In fact, until I'm off of narcotics, perhaps I should just sit on the bench and watch the game And, I have yet another surgery next week with more pain, so it may be awhile--I'm very sensitive to medications. When I had that car wreck last year you told me I was rambling on-list, and I was on meds then for pain. Okay, so basically I was right in my post from a week or two ago that got you all huffy when I said that one had to be high to understand your ramblings. As Stephen Colbert says, "I accept your apology". Kids, don't post while drunk or high, unless you're a professional. And Jen's right - you really do need your own blog. Your fanbase here is too small. The *World* needs to be exposed to the Staplesian Experience (including those bored kids in Japan). There are a number of sites (blogger.com for one) that offer free accounts and make it easy to set up a blog and post to it - no arcane computer knowledge required. People can comment on your life stories, and you can comment back, explaining/detailing more as the thread goes on. It's perfect for you, really. Hmmm, except that the audience won't be as captive as this one here, which might be a problem. The Loud Family site moved under www.125records.com a while back and the lyrics haven't made the trip yet.. During my last round of late-Spring cleaning, I found a couple of 13- or 14-year-old t-shirts. One of them is from the Loud Family's Plants and Birds and Rocks and Things concert tour. The front shows a lowercase "j", and the back features the PBRT cover picture, w/"LOUD family" in red. The other is from an Aimee Mann tour, and has the "Whatever" cover picture on the front, w/"Whatever" ""Whenever" "Wherever" "Tour 93/94" on the back. Both shirts are black-on-white, w/no other color except the red "Loud Family' name. Both are XL, and neither was ever worn. Anybody want one or both?
