I filled in for her radio show on her bachelorette party day and on her wedding day. The first show was a rage; the second one sucked water. Too bad it couldna been the other way around. Oh well. Some of the songs I used included (but were not limited to): The Drive-By Truckers Marry Me Dave Edmunds I Knew the Bride (When She Used to Rock and Roll) Michael Hall I Want to Watch You Age Christine Lavin Summer Weddings My Fair Lady Get Me to the Church on Time Howlin Wolf Drinking CV Wine (she's a wine lover) XTC Big Day (Skylarking) Many of the others I just couldn't find. Thanks though. Now another friend of mine is getting married. She told me she wanted me to come up with a piece of music for when they've said their vows, the groom has kissed the bride, and they face the crowd and march on out. So she's looking for something midtempo to uptempo, with a feel-good vibe; no minor chords or slow tempos. My mind, of course, immediately turned toward "Suck My Ass It Smells" by G.G. Allin and the Scumfucs, "Kick Out the Jams" by the MC5, and "The Rutabaga Boogie" by whoever did that one. The most likely candidates I have are "Celebration" by Premiata Forneria Macaroni or "Livin' Thing" by ELO. Got 'nything better? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 May 2007 06:23:46 -0500 From: "Tony Hogard" Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Where it all started > I remember another one called THE ENIGMA VARIATIONS, but I think that one > came out years earlier. _Enigma Variations_ for me as well, led off by "24", prompting me immediately to purchase _Real Nighttime_. Or to get my older sister to buy it for me. She just thought it sounded like Let's Active. I believe there was also a follow-up _Enigma Variations 2_, incl. "Shark Pretty". - -- Your pal, Tone ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 May 2007 09:49:15 EDT From: JRT456@aol.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Where it all started Both ENIGMA VARIATIONS came out on CD, and I usually find that Vol. 2 can be found reasonably priced via Amazon's outside vendors. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 May 2007 14:05:10 -0700 (PDT) From: zoom@muppetlabs.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] mo' matrimonial muzik > Now another friend of mine is getting married. Try: Abba--"I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do" (the classic) Joan Armatrading--"I Love My Baby" Van Morrison--"Sweet Thing," or "Astral Weeks" Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders--"Groovy Kind of Love" (though I secretly prefer Phil Collins' cover) The Crystals--"Then He Kissed Me" or "Da Doo Ron Ron" Boston--"Livin' For You" Cockney Rebel--"Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)" (though I like Erasure's cover almost as much) Venus Hum--"Wordless May" The La's--"There She Goes" (I like Sixpence None The Richer's cover too, even if it's lighter on the percussion) That'll hopefully do for starters, Andy "As farmers discover just how golden corn has become, they are replanting fields formerly devoted to wheat, soy and other foods with corn, driving up the price of even more food commodities." - --from http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-food16may16,0,7513672,full.story?coll=la-home-center ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 May 2007 18:20:46 EDT From: Scout82667@aol.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] mo' matrimonial muzik In a message dated 5/17/2007 5:07:58 P.M. Let's just hope our dwindling bee population can pollinate everything, otherwise their planting will be a waste of time.
