Not that anyone in Greensburg is watching, but holy smokes, this seems insensitive. If they'd been out in that tornado, even if they had been able to hang on and "ride" it, they would have come out the other side caked in mud and blood with numerous injuries from flying debris, even if they hadn't been hit in the head with something and killed. And let's see-- it's tossing cows and tractors all around them, but it doesn't pick up their car? Riiiiight...... It would have been great if out the window of the SUV you saw Margaret Hamilton riding her bicycle with Toto trying to escape out of the basket. The special effects in TWISTER were just a tad more believable than the flying monkeys, circa 1939. I agree it's a silly movie, but...a friend of mine actually created the computer program to create the "flying debris" in that movie! He has since worked on the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. His main project for that was creating Gollum's eye moisture and skin. Needless to say, he's now a gazillionaire with 2 blown out wrists... Dare I venture that a gazillionaire can buy a new pair of wrists? My favorite story about Gollum was how once, after ten or so hours of "rendering," they got the green meanie fully drawn--except that his eyeballs kept popping in and out of his face. Not sure if that made it to the DVD, Andy "They say retro's getting old." - -overheard at work recently ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 06 May 2007 22:55:40 -0400 From: Jenny Grover Subject: Re: [loud-fans] In An Unimaginably Ugly Coincidence... Anyway, I blame the writers and producers for the silliness factor. The flying debris looked cool, it was just all too "clean". I've seen too much real tornado damage.
