Doesn't seem like a very accurate generator - likelier to give you vaguely sports-team-sounding entries. Uh, Impala Red Raiders (now "Cardinals," fwiw...) First, any band name generator needs to focus on genre: metal bands are named entirely differently from indie-rock bands are named entirely differently from hip-hop acts. (I'm sure there are "hip-hop name" generators online, but I'm not bothering to look for one.) For indie rock, say, take a reference to a sixties or seventies pop-cultural artiface, and merge it with...I dunno, a disgraced politician or preacher. Scooter Libby's Mystery Date, say. Maybe it's not around anymore. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it came up on loudfans. You could generate an entire random death metal album, with lyrics for 10-12 songs. Unlike any of the death metal generators I found searching tonight, this one had a feature that let you specify custom words to include in the random results, and also let you influence the weighting of the RNG. IMHO this made it much funnier than the run-of-the-mill death metal lyric generator, because you could seed it with phrases like "puppies" "sweetness" and "candy valentine" and it would dutifully spit back word salad along the lines of "the candy valentine festers in the black pit of puppy sweetness, Satan! Puppy! Satan!" The site I'm thinking of had a logo with a hammer, and a standing request for any band that used the generator to produce real music (!) identify itself on the site, and use the logo in their packaging. Also, I think there was a numeral "2" either in the domain name or in the name of the site. Sound familiar to anyone? I would play the game of the day, but I find "Pickup Gladiators" less than inspiring. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Mar 2007 01:06:52 +0000 From: "=?UTF-8?B?V2VzdCBBbnRob255?=" Subject: Re: [loud-fans] band names I thought the porn star one was created with your PET'S name and the name of the street you grew up on, in which case I claim the rather awesome porn star name of Cisco Tacoma.
