I've only spun the new one once so far. The opening track reminds me of the opening track of The Pooh Sticks' MILLION SELLER lp--"turn (ing) up your stereo" and having a good time--same kind of energy and vibe in both songs. I like Schneider's ELO fixation he's having at the moment. OMG, that Pooh Sticks album came out like, 15 years ago [shudder}--but it's a high point of the '90s for me, - --Mark "Scabs are God's way of healing our cuts." "Why does God let us get cuts?" If this is old news please excuse, but it does work. The Starfire Generals--playing an elementary school near you. - --Mark

Doesn't seem like a very accurate generator - likelier to give you vaguely sports-team-sounding entries. Uh, Impala Red Raiders (now "Cardinals," fwiw...) First, any band name generator needs to focus on genre: metal bands are named entirely differently from indie-rock bands are named entirely differently from hip-hop acts. (I'm sure there are "hip-hop name" generators online, but I'm not bothering to look for one.) For indie rock, say, take a reference to a sixties or seventies pop-cultural artiface, and merge it with...I dunno, a disgraced politician or preacher. Scooter Libby's Mystery Date, say. Someone else can carry this on - I've got actual work to do (damn!). - -- ...Jeff Norman The Architectural Dance Society http://spanghew.blogspot.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 Mar 2007 21:56:24 -0500 From: Jenny Grover Subject: Re: [loud-fans] band names CertronC90@aol.com wrote: > They have this thing on AOL music where you come up with your "indie" band's > name by combining your first car's name with the name of your school mascot. > If this is old news please excuse, but it does work. > > The Starfire Generals--playing an elementary school near you. > Well, I'd have to say the Starfire Generals sounds more like an indie band name to me than the Monaco Jaguars. Never Had A Car Bulldogs? Well, "Never Had A Car" could work in a minimal avec touch of whine way. Valiant Bulldogs? Squareback Bulldogs? I like that one better. On the other hand, Kurt Cobain drove (and sometimes slept in) a Valiant... Andy "How've you been?" "...How are you doing?" (pause) "Sorry...you...greeted me like you knew me?"
