I was in NYC a couple of weeks ago for the Sneakers/Mitch Easter/ dB's show at the Bowery Ballroom. It was great fun. Mitch played an 11 song set with 5 of them old Let's Active songs. Mitch gave me permission to record his set and it's available at DIME. http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=130383 There were some other bootleggers in attendance that captured the other two sets that are also available on DIME. You can do a search and find them. I suppose with Mitch's impending album being distributed through 125 Records and the fact that Shalini is from Sacramento, this visit isn't too terribly surprising. I just hope Eric Marshall is able to make the trip with his other work commitments. There's a second dB's reunion show here at the Cat's Cradle on Feb 2nd, and it's rumored another Sneakers appearance. The other day I tuned in to World Cafe and I was about 7 or 8 minutes late into it, and "Spy in the House of Love" was playing. I don't think I've ever heard Dye play the dBs before. For a smallish venue (saw Yo La Tengo at Cat's Cradle back in th' day when the live internet broadcast of the show was a big deal), you guys sure have the creme de la creme. - --Mark ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2007 16:26:51 -0500 (EST) From: Bill Silvers Subject: Re: [loud-fans] The Embarrassment - Wellsville That is just_awesome, Micah. Now the old Cradle when it actually "was" in Chapel Hill held about a 100 max. I'll happily devour stories of great and horrible wedding music. Those on the Jazz Butcher list might remember that somebody once got Mr. Fish to strum for nuptials. Heck, email Mr. Miller and ask if he'll come over with his guitar. I don't know his wedding rates (but it's an easy drive), Andy "We should be careful never to imagine, that the wedding-day is the burial of love, but that in reality love then begins its best life; and if we set out upon that principle, and are mindful to keep it up, and give due attention and aid to the progress of love thus brought into the well ordered well sheltered garden, we may enjoy I believe as much happiness as is consistent with the imperfection of our present state of being." - --James Boswell ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2007 20:53:36 -0800 (PST) From: zoom@muppetlabs.com Subject: Re: [loud-fans] Wedding Music -- Bay Area > I am, quite fortunately, getting married in June.
